The day of my relapse everything went black. Dreams may be deceptive but this nightmare’s real. The sword of Damocles hangs above my head. My dreams slip away through my fingers like sand. I hear voices inside my head. I thirst. Terrible voices inside my head. I thirst. The monsters inside my head, they haunt me like a curse. I need something to ease my mind, a cure to numb the pain. I hope to find redemption at the bottom of my glass. If I can’t have some liquor, I might as well be dead. I hear voices inside my head. I thirst. Terrible voices inside my head. I thirst. I’m so thirsty. Tonight the bottle let me down. Now I’m on my knees, hear my drunkard’s plea. I’m all alone again, looking for guidance. I need a helping hand, please Lord help me. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”. Grant me some serenity or I will drink myself to death.
